WILL I NEED A PASSPORT?
Yes, you will need a valid passport to travel to Tanzania. Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your planned stay. Additionally, it should contain at least two blank facing pages (three pages are recommended for Tanzania). A tourist visa is valid for three months from the date of issue. Serengeti Savanna Adventures recommends checking your passport well in advance of your travel date.
VISA INFORMATION (GENERAL)
It is your responsibility to obtain all necessary visas before starting your trip. Depending on your nationality, a visa may be required to enter Tanzania, and in some cases, the process can take up to six weeks. Be sure to verify the requirements specific to your country.
CAN I GET A VISA ON ARRIVAL?
Traveling to Tanzania for the first time is exciting, but understanding visa requirements can feel overwhelming. The good news is that many travelers are eligible for a visa on arrival. This allows you to obtain your visa quickly and easily at the airport when you land in Tanzania.
However, this option is not available for all nationalities. While citizens from many European and American countries are guaranteed a visa on arrival, others must apply in advance. It's important to check your eligibility before traveling.
APPLYING FOR A VISA ONLINE
You can apply for a Tanzanian visa online, but eligibility varies by country. The process typically takes up to 10 working days, so plan accordingly.
Most travelers will need an Ordinary Visa, but U.S. citizens are required to apply for a Multiple Entry Visa. You can begin your application and find complete guidelines on the official visa website:
Visa fees vary by country and visa type. Generally, the fee is $50 USD for most nationalities and $100 USD for U.S. citizens.
REFERRAL VISA
Travelers from countries categorized under Referral Visa requirements must apply in advance — at least two months before their intended travel date. These applicants cannot obtain a visa on arrival, and processing may take longer.
As part of the application, you will be required to submit an introductory letter. Serengeti Savanna Adventures will gladly provide this letter, but only after confirming your eligibility and reviewing required documents, including your passport.
